The Tower of the Gods is a parkour challenge located in Infinitus at approximately X:80, Z:80. It ranks among the oldest surviving challenges on the server, being one of the constructs migrated from the old server, as well as being the most difficult. Since its creation, only two players have succeeded in completing it.

Access

The Tower of the Gods can be accessed independently of the quest from anywhere using the "/godstower" command. This command will teleport the player directly to the starting platform in Infinitus. At the starting platform, and on several checkpoints within the tower, a player can set their home. If the player has set his or her home in Infinitus somewhere in the tower, then the "/home" command will also teleport the player to the tower while in Infinitus.

Challenge

The tower consists of six levels, each designed to test the player in new ways. The levels range from drills in precise jumps to unique arrangements of jumps to add variety.

The starting platform bears several signs on its face, giving instructions on setting home and returning to spawn. One suggests that frustrated players might instead try the Death Tower as practice. Extending from this platform is a ring of glass hallway around the outside of the tower, allowing players to spectate others within the tower. To begin the challenge, the player must make a long dive into a small pool of water in a platform at the very bottom of the tower.

Level one begins with a sign reading "Your faith is rewarded. Let us now see if you are worthy." Additional signs of encouragement are placed in locations along the first level. After a few introductory ladder jumps, the player must climb a diagonal set of ladders up a high wall, threading a needle between lava suspended above and certain death below. Following this, the player must make several leaps to distant water sources to break their fall, then complete several more ladder jumps arranged in a recurring "ninja pole" setup. Finally, a sign encourages the player to take a leap of faith into the open air. Doing so will teleport the player to the first checkpoint and the start of level two.

At the start of level two, the difficulty immediately ramps up with nine 4-block jumps in a row with a single block of windup for each of the latter eight. Following this is a long sequence of ladder jumps and more long block jumps, after which the player must proceed down a narrow hallway, jumping over three blocks of lava, then sidle along the outside of that hallway using a precarious row of ladders over the abyss. The player must make a few final tricky ladder jumps, then navigate a glass-pane-tightrope to the checkpoint and the start of level three.

Level three begins with a long tightrope walk over a winding trail of glass panes, followed by a long staircase of 3-by-.5-block jumps. Following this, some simple jumps lead the player upwards to what looks like it could be a checkpoint, but is actually a sign reading "I bet that you thought there was going to be a checkpoint". beyond this sign is a sequence of fifteen 4-block jumps in a row, as though to punish the player for being too hopeful in the abundance of checkpoints. After this, the player must perform some basic ice jumps, after which they will reach the third checkpoint and the start of level four.

Level four begins with a reprisal of the "Ninja Pole" ladder and block jumps, followed by some glass pane tightrope jumps. Following this is a long winding staircase of single stone brick blocks, which must be ascended with 3-by-1 jumps with a single block of windup. A full twenty-five 3-by-1 jumps are needed in a row to reach the checkpoint and the start of level five.

Trivia

  • The Tower of the Gods was first completed in the old server in June of 2012, and was advertised to the world with a Reddit post promising, in addition to in-game rewards, a long list of Steam games to the first player to beat it. On July 13, 2012, Azilizan became the first player to clear it. It was then six years until Piogre became the second player to beat it on February 17th, 2018.
  • The original in-game rewards for the tower included multiple high-powered spells. These spells were later removed from the game, and rewards for completion are now determined by Wahrheit on a case-by-case basis, based on discussion with the player in question.
  • The tower originally had an entirely open bottom, leaving players who missed jumps to fall directly into the void.
  • The signs of encouragement placed on several points of the first level are references to the lyrics of the song I'll Make a Man Out of You, from Disney's Mulan. YouTube
